My first ever speedpainting, done as a practice piece. It shows the Voodoo Lady's lair in Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge.

I've played the third one, which was the first Monkey Island game I played. Not only was it Dominic Armato's first time as Guybrush Threepwood, it also featured voices of Gregg Berger (Grimlock from G1 Transformers), Alan Young (DuckTales), Gary Coleman (Diff'rent Strokes), and even Terrence McGovern (DuckTales and Darkwing Duck). I got this one game box from Goodwill here in the States once that featured the original games, plus the original hint books with the decoders. Good work on Guybrush!

Thank you. My first graphic adventure game was "Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge". Loved it to bits. I'm currently playing the special edition which looks just wonderful. And - of course - I can finally listen to Dominic Armato voicing Guybrush, as the special edition is only available with English voiceover. However, I was lucky enough to play "Tales of Monkey Island" in English as well. I wish I could have heard him in "Curse". *sighs*

You've never played Curse of Monkey Island? That was my first Monkey Island, and it was difficult but fun! My sister played a little of Curse and she thought it was fun and funny. She also enjoyed Last Crusade and Fate of Atlantis. Anyway, I also enjoyed the two Indiana Jones graphic adventures; Fate of Atlantis and Last Crusade. Last Crusade had more difficult puzzles, but I got through it. I did a bit of guesswork with the Holy Grail at the end, and I let Elsa take the Grail and fall into the crack before I caught it and gave it to the Knight. I once won Last Crusade by giving the Knight the Grail before Elsa could snatch it. Oh, and you're welcome!

PS: I didn't really get into Monkey Island until I played the demo of Curse. When I played it for the first time, I thought to myself, "What have I been missing?" And then I wanted Curse for my game collection.

Oh no, I played "Curse of Monkey Island" and loved it. So far I played all games in the "Monkey Island" series.

They're all good nonetheless. I heard Escape From Monkey Island was a little weak though.

The graphics were horrible, yes. And "monkey combat" was total rubbish. Long lives insult sword fighting!

The best part about insult duels was learning new insults and new comebacks. Not only did they have to make sense, they also had to rhyme. At least that's a major clue! Someone said that part of Curse of Monkey Island was too long. To me, it was OK.

Looks awesome! :D
How long did it took?

Actually it took about one hour to colour and fifteen minutes or something to sketch. I set myself this time limit in order to keep it in the style of a "speedpainting".

Okay that's long for speed! -^^-
But it still looks awesome! No doubt about it! ;)

Well, for me that was quite short. :) I tend to add a lot of details.

"Game Night" took me about three to four hours (including the sketch, the clean-up and the colouring), "Up all night" included a pre-sketch, the line-art which was done digitally, as well as the colouring and as that was more plain and less elaborate, it took about two to three hours. As I tend to interrupt working and having a cup of coffee inbetween I cannot tell precisely how long the pictures took, but that should roughly be the duration of my working phase.

Thanks! :la: It's supposed to be made out of old ship parts or something, but the bronze colour definitely makes it look metallic.

They could've had a big bronze plated figurehead for their ship, or some wacky swamp artist gathered ship junk and had it bronzed.

That would be a character the "Monkey Island"-series could need... the Wacky Swamp Artist. ;) I like that.

I think it'd fit in with the general wackiness of the series.

Actually, the skull hut is supposed to be made out of wood and old ship parts. No rock included, I'm afraid. ;)

I put in as many details as I could within one hour... it was just supposed to be a speedpainting and I set myself this time limit as I usually keep drawing and drawing and drawing...
